It is a set of regulations intended to increase sea security at ports and onboard ships. The body behind the code is IMO (International Maritime Organization), ruled by the United Nations. The international ISPS code came into force on 1 July 2004. For Wasaline and its customers this means that:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2013 Harbour areas are surrounded by a fence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2013 All units must be booked in advance to guarantee entry to the harbour area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2013 A list of goods, with separate itemisations of dangerous goods, must be presented for all units.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2013 Spending the night inside the fenced area is forbidden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2013 Random checks can be made on the contents of all cargo units entering the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The ISPS code defines so-called security levels. They vary according to the situation and any perceived threats. The security levels are set by each country\u2019s police authorities, and they may vary from port to port.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<div  class='tabcontainer av-2ibpgu2-aeaafe3aa8990f99a05e204cab4829f0 top_tab  avia-builder-el-3  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock '>\n<section class='av_tab_section av_tab_section av-25g5d8a-4502f07c132cb9b0191451aa8055eecc'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div id='tab-id-1-tab' class='tab active_tab' role='tab' aria-selected=\"true\" tabindex=\"0\" data-fake-id='#tab-id-1' aria-controls='tab-id-1-content'  itemprop=\"headline\" >SECURITY LEVEL 1 (NORMAL SITUATION)<\/div><div id='tab-id-1-content' class='tab_content active_tab_content' role='tabpanel' aria-labelledby='tab-id-1-tab' aria-hidden=\"false\"><div class='tab_inner_content invers-color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">SECURITY LEVEL 1 (NORMAL SITUATION)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Security Level 1 is defined in the ISPS code as the default or normal state. At this level, a list of goods refers to a transport document that specifies the consigner, consignee, total weight and classification of the shipped goods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">TRUCKS AND VEHICLES ACCOMPANIED BY DRIVER<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">All units must be booked in advance before they have a right to be transferred into the fenced harbour area (ISPS area). This means that all waiting vehicles must either be booked at the check-in or they must wait outside the harbour area. The driver must present a list of goods at the check-in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">When the cargo contains dangerous goods, the transport documents must follow the IMDG\/ADR regulations, valid at the time. At the destination harbour, the unit must leave the harbour area (ISPS area) immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">GOODS (TRAILERS, PAPER CASSETTES, CONTAINERS, BOATS, PALLETS)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">All units must be booked in advance. An unbooked unit arriving at the harbour during the day must be booked before entry to the harbour area (ISPS area). Wasaline must be presented a cargo document, fulfilling the regulations valid at the time, on any dangerous goods. After depositing the cargo unit for shipping, the traction truck driver must leave the harbour area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">GENERAL CARGO<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">General cargo can be shipped only by separate agreement. While depositing the goods, the consigner must present a detailed list of goods and fill in a delivery note. All general cargo shipments will be given a visual check.<i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_tab_section av_tab_section av-1l1ggqi-945a30a6474a188089572f4a1cbd7537'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div id='tab-id-2-tab' class='tab' role='tab' aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-fake-id='#tab-id-2' aria-controls='tab-id-2-content'  itemprop=\"headline\" >Security Level 2<\/div><div id='tab-id-2-content' class='tab_content' role='tabpanel' aria-labelledby='tab-id-2-tab' aria-hidden=\"true\"><div class='tab_inner_content invers-color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Security Level 2 indicates raised readiness in the ISPS area. At this level, by a detailed list of goods we mean a transport document that specifies the consigner, consignee, total weight and type of the goods, as well as the number of cargo packages. By a transport worker\u2019s identification card we mean an ID card that proves the driver\u2019s identity and indicates the transport company he\/she is representing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to the regulations specified for Security Level 1, the following requirements are in force:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">TRUCKS AND VEHICLES ACCOMPANIED BY DRIVER<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Units must arrive at the harbour at least 2 hours before the vessel\u2019s departure time. The driver and any assistant driver must prove his\/her identity by presenting the transport worker\u2019s ID card. At the check-in, the driver must present a detailed list of goods of the cargo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">GOODS TO BE HANDLED (E.G. TRAILERS, CONTAINERS, BOATS, CASSETTES)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Units must arrive at the harbour at least 2 hours before the vessel\u2019s departure time. In these cases, the traction truck driver must prove his\/her identity and present a detailed list of goods, as well as a document, fulfilling the regulations valid at the time, on any dangerous goods.<i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_tab_section av_tab_section av-150auwq-68452841bb6d21a313db1aea38346ae8'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div id='tab-id-3-tab' class='tab' role='tab' aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-fake-id='#tab-id-3' aria-controls='tab-id-3-content'  itemprop=\"headline\" >Security Level 3 i<\/div><div id='tab-id-3-content' class='tab_content' role='tabpanel' aria-labelledby='tab-id-3-tab' aria-hidden=\"true\"><div class='tab_inner_content invers-color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Security Level 3 indicates the highest level of readiness in the ISPS code. This level will come into force for example at the threat of an immediate bomb attack or other dangerous situation. At this level, goods will be handled according to the authorities\u2019 orders.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-s95d6i-65a3f7d8a5797b225c13521ea0f99584 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">INSPECTION OF CARGO<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The ISPS code requires that when Security Level 1 is in force, random checks will be made on the cargo and transport equipment. Checks will be made more frequently when Security Level 2 is in force. All those who are entering the ISPS area and who intend to travel onboard a Wasaline vessel shall be conscious of these requirements. Refusal to be inspected means a waiver of a right to travel with Wasaline.
