Wasaline has signed a biogas contract with Gasum and a Fuel EU Maritime pooling agreement with Stena Line which enables Wasaline to use only biofuels in the future. This also makes the Vaasa-Umeå route the first international green shipping corridor in operation, following support from the DNV-led Nordic Roadmap.
Wasaline’s climate goal of being carbon neutral was primary set to 2030 but has been achieved already in August 2025.
In line with our climate plan, Wasaline continues to invest in sustainability initiatives such as shore power, more efficient terminal operations and technical vessel modifications for reducing the emissions.
The environmental fees will apply to all our ticket types, including groups and freight.
Once the environmental fee has been implemented, ETS, port and fuel surcharges are no longer collected.
