Conference trips aboard Aurora Botnia will be emissions-neutral

Wasaline takes a significant step as a pioneer in sustainable travel by launching emissions-neutral meetings onboard Aurora Botnia. With this new service, all passengers on a conference trip can now enjoy responsible travel at no extra cost.

The carbon footprint per conference passenger at Aurora Botnia is only about 25 kg CO2 per person. Wasaline covers the cost of emissions compensation, so there are no additional expenses for the travelers.

Aurora Botnia is designed with energy efficiency and low emissions in mind. The vessel is a hybrid vessel powered by LNG, biogas, and battery technology. Emissions neutrality is achieved by allocating the operations of the ship to biogas and battery power, thereby eliminating emissions during the trip. With this innovative solution, Wasaline sets a new standard for responsible travel.

“Our conference passengers are increasingly interested in sustainability, and it plays an ever-more important role when choosing a venue for their event. By offering all conference trips booked through us as emissions-free, we meet our customers’ needs”, says Niina Jansson, Sales Director at Wasaline.

The now launched emissions-neutral meeting concept is a natural continuation of Wasaline’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism. Wasaline has previously introduced climate compensation for travelers, where a voluntary fee makes the trip climate neutral. The compensation fees are used directly to purchase biogas.
