NLC Ferry Ab Oy I Press release I 22.3.2024
Wasaline has been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label
Wasaline has been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label. Tourist companies that have received the label have committed to work for a more sustainable tourism. Each company has met a common set of criteria and made an action plan for sustainable tourism and participated in joint trainings.
For the STF label, the company must also have a quality system in place. Wasaline was awarded the environmental system certificate ISO 14001 and the quality system 9001 at the beginning of the year.
”For Wasaline, sustainable development and environmental issues are a matter of course. We work for it every day. This particularly applies to climate issues. Aurora Botnia is already today the world’s most environmentally friendly passenger car ferry and we are constantly working to ensure that it remains so also in the future”, says Peter Ståhlberg, Managing Director of Wasaline.
”The Sustainable Travel Finland label is a great indication that Wasaline is committed to responsible practices and is taking concrete steps towards sustainability. Sustainability is not a trend but the only right way to operate. Travelers and tour operators expect companies to ensure that their operations adhere to the principles of sustainable development”, says Liisa Mäkelä, an expert in responsible tourism from Visit Finland, which is part of Business Finland.
