Wasaline launches new restaurant concept

On February 8, Wasaline launches a new restaurant concept aboard its ferry M/S Aurora Botnia. Bistro Botnia will serve food made from local, seasonal ingredients. The menu includes both fine dining and simpler options. The launch takes place during the Kvarken Food Cruise, a trade fair and exhibition for anyone interested in food and drink.

The concept for Bistro Botnia is based on the original idea with the Bistro concept itself, which originates from France. It should be an easy and convenient restaurant to visit, both in terms of the food served and the bistro’s decor and appearance.

“Of course, this does not mean that we would compromise the quality and presentation of the food. The kitchen attaches great importance to the fact that the food served should be experienced as both genuine and well-made”, says Markus Backlund, Onboard Product Manager, Wasaline.

Wasaline organized a naming competition for the restaurant. Hundreds of well-thought answers came in from committed people from both sides of Kvarken. The winner of the competition is Hanna Pundars from Vaasa. She had a well-reasoned response to her proposal. “The name has geographical connection, elegance and a marine connection. You can refer to any local ingredients and the name is of course connected to the ship’s name. The name is both easy to remember and spell”, writes Hanna.

It is the à la carte restaurant on deck 8, which has been converted into Bistro Botnia.
